Paragon in AB
So, I've finally unlocked every skill for the paragon, but I have yet to play the character. I feel like they have some secret/inherent potential to be a decent support or primary action character in AB, but I can't seem to put together a decent build.
Just so you know, I'm a seasoned ABer. I usually run a balanced Derv (condition, self-healing, condition and hex removal), and an MM. My other AB character was an A/E water magic spiker that got nerfed to hell back in the fall.
Regardless, I was wondering if someone could tell me what the strong/weak points of a paragon are. I am highly enthusiastic to play this class in AB, but I need to know how they're played.
Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't play para in AB because alone their spike damage is easily heal able. You can run a command paragon and use shouts for team buffs, etc... I still think Fire Ele is the best in AB for alter capping.

Thanks for the reply. I have a Fire Ele I play sometimes, but it's not my cup of tea if you know what I mean.
I'll check out the command spells, any specific ones that you recommend?

Paras are kinda crappy in AB, since you'll rarely have a big group around to trigger leadership off of. However, [skill]"fall back!"[/skill] and [skill]"coward!"[/skill] are both extremely strong skills in AB, so at least you have a place to start.

Fall back is the only reason to bring a para imo.

Thanks for the info turbobusa and llsektorll!
I'd love to HA, but I'm not ranked, so I can't get a group ever.
Ah well, I'll try going to AB with my guild - it's an FFF/AB guild so I figure it'll be easy to organize around a Fall Back/Coward Para.
Should I add anthem of flame too?

Anthem of flame is there solely to keep up your refrains if you have them. In AB, I'd prefer [wiki]Anthem of Weariness[/wiki], since it can affect allies, while flame only affects party members.

goes well with aggressive refrain, so yes. From what I remember BGW members are more keen on FFF than AB, forming predefined groups in FF alliance is hard.

Well, the the majority of the guild does FFF, but I AB with members of the alliance.
So I should use:
Anthem of Weariness
Aggressive Refrain
Fall Back
Coward
If I remember correctly, there's a pretty cool run spell that lets you run 25% faster for X amount of second, and its duration depends on the number of allies that are around you.

-Anthem of Flame
-Barbed Spear
-Virulence
-Blazin Spear
-Mericeless Spear
-Leader's Confort
-Remedy Signet
-Lead The Way
I play good with those build and the energy is good with 35 and > cause i use Hierophant Spear...

Fall back should be all the speed boost you need. I'd stick some spear attack skills, a self heal, and an adrenal shout for energy management on there.

Burning Shield or Shield Bash are also pretty good in AB, for raping any melee (notably instagank 'sins) that decides to kill you.
Bash is great fun, if only for the lulz

Fix'd.
For AB, Anthem of Weariness, GftE are good for keeping refrains up and managing energy, as said.

They are, but taking them drags you town to a single spear attack, which probably isn't ideal.

Barbed Spear, Vicious Attack, "Make Haste!", Crippling Anthem, Anthem of Weariness, "Fall Back!" Aggressive Refrain, Rend/Rip Enchantment.
I guess this would work?

I always found organised groups with Paragons better than going in a random PuG. For instance, a guildie and I have, from time to time, both gone in as Paragons, and loaded up with a couple of pther physicals, and it seems far more worth it, but a Paragon in a random PuG is something I don't find that fun. I'm inclined to agree with Dr Strangelove and Alex in that "Coward!", "Fall Back!" and Blazing Shield are all good AB skills, especially "Coward!" - because Ranged KD is funny.
I always found R/P spearchuckers to be far more resilient and formidable skirmishers in AB, what with the spear attacks, the blocking stances and the pet. The number of R/Ps I've seen in AB recently is really starting to grind on me.

GFtE, Vicious Attack, Harriers/Spear of Lightning, Crippling Anthem, "Never Surrender", Anthem of Weariness, Fallback, Agressive Refrain.
14 Spear
10 Command
10 Leadership
All of your shouts effect entire side not just your team (Never Surrender is bugged). This is the build I always use in AB, basically everyone turns into a cripshot ranger and turns the other side into a rage.
Sometimes I run with a second para who runs Coward with Fallback, this allows a constant upkeep and a enitre side speed boost.
Seriously it feels like cheating with the build.

Building on what Celestial Beaver has said: I ran this build for aaaaaaaaaaages on my ranger and it has been known to work on paragons. It takes a different slant to the normal support para:
[card]Spear Of Lightning[/card][card]Blazing Spear[/card][card]Merciless Spear[/card][card]Poisonous Bite[/card][card]Tiger's Fury[/card][card]Heal As One[/card][card]Charm Animal[/card][card]Run As One[/card]
Take a zealous Spear and a stance shield and you're set.
You might want to sub poisonous bite for an adrenal shout to help your energy management as you don't have expertise like rangers do.
Enjoy!

^I'll second that, spear chuckers are very, very good in AB. Maybe replace Tiger's fury with lightning reflexes if you find you lack of defense. zealous spear can then be replaced with vampiric.
You can also replace poisonous bite with apply poison, I findit to be more pressuring, but you need the zealous spear then.
